A Word of Hope • Deliverance • Restoration • Rebuilding
There are seasons in life when we wonder whether anything can ever be rebuilt.
We wait. We try. We hope. We start again. And sometimes, after years of disappointment, we begin to wonder whether our story has already come to an end.
Perhaps your plans have failed. Perhaps doors have remained closed. Perhaps your strength has slowly disappeared. Perhaps your mind is tired, your body is weak, or your circumstances have left you with very little hope.
You look at your life and see ruins.
But God sees something that can still be rebuilt.
Jesus is coming to meet you.

He Has Already Started the Journey
In Luke 8, Jesus says to His disciples:
“Let us go over to the other side of the lake.”
— Luke 8:22
Jesus knew where He was going.
On the other side was a man whose life had been completely devastated. He lived among the tombs, away from people. He had no home, no dignity and no peace. He had been chained, but even chains could not contain his torment.
People had seen his condition.
But Jesus saw him.
And Jesus went to meet him.
On the way, a violent storm arose. The wind and waves became so fierce that the disciples were terrified. But Jesus stood up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters:
“The storm subsided, and all was calm.”
— Luke 8:24
The disciples asked:
“Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
The storm could not stop Jesus from reaching the other side.
And that is where I want you to take heart today:
Your storm cannot stop Jesus from reaching you.
Perhaps You Feel Like the Man in Gerasenes
The man Jesus met had been living in a terrible condition.
He was isolated.
He was tormented.
He was chained.
He had lost control of his life.
He lived among the tombs.
His life had become a place of death and hopelessness.
Perhaps your situation is different, but something inside you feels the same.
You may have been waiting for a very long time.
Your age may seem to be working against you. Your health may have weakened. Your mind may feel exhausted. Your plans may have failed. The doors you hoped would open may have remained closed.
You may feel that every gate is locked.
You may feel chained by circumstances, habits, failures, fear or the weight of your past.
You may even have reached a place where you are asking:
“Is there any way back for me?”
If that is where you are today, hear this:
Your story is not over.
Darkness May Be Strong — But Jesus Is Greater
The man could not rescue himself.
His strength could not rescue him.
His chains could not rescue him.
The people around him could not rescue him.
But Jesus could.
When the darkness confronted Jesus, it recognised His authority.
The demons cried out and fell before Him.
Jesus did not stand helpless before the darkness.
The darkness trembled before Jesus.
There are battles in life that we cannot win by ourselves. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our struggle is not merely against flesh and blood, but against spiritual powers and forces of darkness.
That is why we should not try to carry every battle alone.
You need Jesus.
He has authority over the storm.
He has authority over darkness.
He has authority over chains.
He has authority to deliver, heal and restore.
Jesus Himself declared:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
— Matthew 28:18
Why Would Jesus Come So Far?
Because He loves you.
Philippians 2:6–8 reminds us that Christ Jesus, though He was in the form of God, humbled Himself, took the form of a servant and became obedient even to death on a cross. He left His glory, came down for us, and gave Himself for us.
Think about that.
He came for you.
In Luke 8, we see Jesus crossing the lake to reach one broken man. He was willing to go all the way to the other side because that man’s life mattered to Him.
That is the heart of Jesus.
He goes looking for the lost. He reaches for the broken. He comes near to those who are bound and those whom others have given up on.
Jesus is coming to meet you.
From the Tombs to the Feet of Jesus
The most beautiful part of this story comes after Jesus intervenes.
The people came to see what had happened, and Luke 8:35 says:
“They found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind.”
Look at the change. He went from the tombs to the feet of Jesus, from isolation to restoration, from torment to peace, and from bondage to freedom.
The man who had lost control of his life was now sitting peacefully at the feet of Jesus. The man who had been naked was dressed. The man who had been tormented was now in his right mind.
Jesus did not simply remove what was destroying him.
Jesus gave him his life back.
This is rebuilding.
This May Be Your Season of Rebuilding
Perhaps you look at your life and see only broken pieces. God sees something He can rebuild.
You see ashes. He can bring beauty. You see sorrow. He can bring joy. You see mourning. He can bring dancing. You see an ending. He can create a new beginning.
You may say, “My life is finished.”
But God says:
“I am not finished with you.”
And His promise says:
“I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt.”
— Jeremiah 31:4
Notice those words:
Build you up again.
Not merely repair. Not merely cover the cracks.
Build again.
That is the hope of this season.
You can begin again.
You can be rebuilt.
You can be restored.
You can be renewed.
You can live again.
Turn Your Heart Toward Him
Where does rebuilding begin?
It begins by turning our hearts toward God.
The Lord says:
“Return to me with all your heart.”
— Joel 2:12
Don’t wait until everything is fixed before you come to Jesus. Come to Jesus with the broken pieces, with your questions, your failures, your weakness and your pain.
You don’t have to pretend that everything is fine.
You don’t have to become strong before you approach Him.
Come as you are.
Sit at His feet.
Let Him begin the rebuilding.
Your Restored Life Can Become a Revival Testimony
After Jesus delivered the man, he wanted to stay with Him. But Jesus gave him a different assignment:
“Return home and tell how much God has done for you.”
— Luke 8:39
The man who had once been known for his brokenness became a testimony of what Jesus had done. His life became a message.
And perhaps that is part of what God is doing in your life too.
The people who knew your brokenness may one day see your restoration. The people who saw your ashes may see the beauty. The people who saw you fall may see you rise.
Your restored life can become someone else’s hope.
Your testimony can tell someone:
“If Jesus could rebuild me, He can rebuild you too.”
Your Story Is Not Over
Maybe you have lost years. Maybe you have lost opportunities, relationships, confidence or hope.
But don’t mistake ruins for the end of the story.
God can rebuild.
Your age cannot stop Him. Your weakness cannot stop Him. Your past cannot stop Him. Your failures cannot stop Him. Your chains cannot stop Him.
When Jesus comes, everything can change.
He heals.
He delivers.
He restores.
He renews.
He rebuilds.
Take Heart
So wherever you are today, take heart.
If your life feels ruined, He can rebuild. If your heart is broken, He can heal. If you have fallen, He can raise you up. If you have lost hope, He can give you a new beginning.
If you have been chained, He can set you free. If your mind is exhausted, He can restore you. If you feel alone, He has not forgotten you.
And if you think your story is over—
Jesus says, “Begin again.”
Psalm 147:3 gives us this beautiful assurance:
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
And Ezekiel 36:36 gives us the final assurance:
“I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it.”
A Season of Rebuilding
My dear friend, you may be looking at your life today and seeing only ruins. But God is looking at those ruins and saying:
“I can build again.”
You may see ashes.
He sees beauty.
You may see sorrow.
He sees joy.
You may see the end.
He sees a new beginning.
This is not the end.
This is a season of rebuilding.
Jesus is coming to meet you.
Turn your heart toward Him. Let Him heal you. Let Him deliver you. Let Him restore you.
Let Him rebuild you.
And when He does, don’t keep the story to yourself. Go and tell what God has done for you, because the life that was once a testimony of brokenness can become a testimony of grace.
He is building you again.
You will be rebuilt.
Build Again.
